New mayor victorious as whiny D.A. has to dump his wildly unpopular policy that's been responsible for a surge in retail theft

On Election Night last November, a victorious Cherelle Parker famously drew a line in the sand by declaring that once she took office as mayor, "You won't be able to go into a store and steal $499 of merchandise and think it's okay. We have to have a sense of order."
