Larry Krasner's the subject of a congressional hearing tomorrow
The U.S. House Judiciary Committee, meeting in Philadelphia, will examine how D.A. Krasner's 'pro-criminal policies embolden criminals'
The U.S. House Judiciary Committee will convene a “field hearing” at 9 a.m. tomorrow in Philadelphia to examine how D.A. Larry Krasner's “pro-criminal policies embolden criminals at the expense of victims and Philadelphia residents.”
The hearing, which will be held in Room 2A at the William J. Green Jr. Federal Building at 600 Arch Street, will be led by U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan, the Ohio Republican who’s chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.
The list of witnesses scheduled to testify include Douglas Murray, the British author and journalist, and Terri O’Connor, the widow of Corporal James O’Connor.
Corporal O’Connor was shot to death in Philadelphia by a hard-core gang member/drug dealer wanted for murder, who should have been in jail, but was out on the street thanks to Krasner’s soft-on-gun-crimes policies.
Other witnesses include Pauline and Joel Fitzgerald, the parents of Temple University Sgt. Christopher Fitzgerald, who, according to police, was executed by Miles Pfeffer, a 19 year-old carjacker from Bucks County.
Joel Fitzgerald is a former lieutenant in the Philadelphia Police Department who, after serving as police chief in four different cities, is now chief of the Regional Transportation District [RTD] in Denver. His wife is a homicide detective.
The Fitzgeralds have been fighting a losing battle to get Krasner to seek the death penalty in their son’s murder case. Krasner’s a lifelong opponent of the death penalty who vowed on the campaign trail never to request it in any murder case.
At the D.A.’s office, Krasner is presently trying to hide behind a Capital Case Review Committee that he just appointed, ostensibly to advise him on whether to seek the death penalty in the Christopher Fitzgerald murder case.
Joel and Pauline Fitzgerald made the obligatory trek to the D.A.’s office in recent days to make their case to the committee for the death penalty. According to sources, when Joel Fitzgerald got through detailing the horrific circumstances of his son’s murder, the only dry eyes in the room belonged to Larry Krasner.
Sources say the Capital Case Review Committee’s deliberations are only a public relations charade designed to take the political heat off Krasner. The same sources say that Krasner has already made the decision not to seek the death penalty in the Chris Fitzgerald murder case, but he’s trying to hide behind his newly-appointed committee.
Meanwhile, Krasner’s actions speak loudly.
In February of 2023, the D.A.’s office prosecuted 31 murders. The murder of Christopher Fitzgerald was the last of those 31 murder cases to hold a preliminary hearing.
Since Pfeffer’s arrest on Feb. 20, 2023, court records show, judges have granted four different requests for continuances sought by Pfeffer’s public defender lawyers. The records do not say whether the D.A.’s office opposed any of those motions.
The preliminary hearing in the Fitzgerald murder case finally took place on Jan. 24th. It turned out to be a perfunctory event where a formal hearing was waived, and the proceedings were over in five minutes.
It’s impossible to overstate the close working relationship that the public defender’s office has with Krasner, who memorably described himself to The New York Times as a “public defender with power.”
At a March 25th press conference, I asked Krasner if his close personal friendships with Francis Carman, Pfeffer's public defender, and Dan Stevenson, chief of the homicide unit in the public defender's office, had any effect on the D.A.’s handling of the Fitzgerald murder case, but Krasner refused to answer.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Inquirer, to no one’s surprise, has been silent on the subject of the congressional hearing that will take place less than a half mile away from the newspaper’s offices at 100 S. Independence Mall.
At the pro-Krasner Inquirer, they’re too busy writing editorials and press releases masquerading as news stories to boost their favorite progressive politician.
Meanwhile, Rep. Jordan’s House Judiciary Committee has a lot on its plate. They’ve been busy investigating whether to impeach President Joe Biden because of his son Hunter’s business dealings with China and the Ukraine.
They’ve also been investigating Manhattan D.A. Alvin Bragg. Last week, Jordan’s committee released a 300-page report titled, "An Anatomy of a Political Prosecution: The Manhattan District Attorney's Office Vendetta Against President Donald J. Trump."
Last year, the House Judiciary Committee held a hearing in Washington D.C. about rising violent crime in the nation’s capital. Last year, the committee also went on the road to hold similar hearings on violent crime in New York City and Chicago.
And now the road show is coming to Philadelphia.
Even longtime fans in the media are questioning how serious Jordan is about his various crusades.
"At this point, American citizens are asking, 'What can you do about it?' With all due respect, people are sick and tired of congressional investigations that go nowhere," Fox news host Maria Bartiromo lectured Jordan last Sunday.
I am not able to catch it but I saw that he was holding a 3 pm press conference to denounce the hearing.
Thanks for keeping people informed. Your consistent work has probably done more than a congressional hearing to expose the horror that the Soros/Krasner policies have created.
